Big Buddha Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island, one of Hong Kong's nearby outlying islands, is home to the largest, seated, outdoor bronze Buddha in the world. Hong Kong's most prominent religious symbol, the statue sits on a platformed altar and altogether measures 34 metres high and weighs 250 tonnes. On a clear day it can be seen from as far as Macau.

Tao Fung Shan This is a Lutheran missionary centre for the study of Christianity, founded in 1930 as a resting place for Buddhists coming out of China. The Building features a fascinating chapel incorporating the Tao's motifs.

The monastery gets its name from the many small gilded wooden buddhas arranged on shelves around the walls of the main shrine. There are actually about 12,800 of them in all. Including a magnificent gold Buddha.

Tomb
Discovered in the 50's during excavation work,this is a genuine tomb of the Han Dynasty period. The Hong Kong Tourist Association's Heritage Tour includes stop at Lei Cheng Uk as well as visits to a walled village, a stately home and an ancestral hall in the New Territories.
    
Bird Street The Chinese walk and talk together with their caged birds on Bird Street (Hong Lok Street). Songbirds and bird accessories galore are sold here.
     
Space Museum
and Cultural Centre
With its distinctive half-moon shape, the Hong Kong's Space Museum is on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, beside the Cultural Centre, Hong Kong's newest performing arts venue. The Hong Kong Museum of Art is adjacent. The Clock Tower is all that remains of the original railway terminal for an overland journey that began at Victoria Station in London many years ago.

Happy Valley Racecourse Horse racing is the most popular form of gambling in Hong Kong, and the Happy Valley course is always well attended on race days.
   
Amah Rock The Chinese name for it is Mong Fu Shek, meaning "Waiting for Husband Rock". A natural rock formation in the shape of a woman carrying a baby, high over the new town of Sha Tin.
